Route 66 2009

Route 66 was laid out on existing roads to connect Chicago to Los Angeles, taking you across 7 states, 3 timezones, many different landscapes and all kinds of cities and small towns. The original route had a length of 2400 miles / 3862 km, but it underwent many improvements and realignments over its lifetime, changing its path and overall length. US 66 was officially removed from the United States Highway System in 1985 as it had been bypassed by the Interstate. It was decided the route was no longer relevant, hence all the ghost towns and stretches of impassable road along the way. We wanted to make a trip of a lifetime on the motorbike and found there wasn't any other option than taking the road of all roads, the mother road: Route 66.
